(sorry if this is a double, I’m not used to the new site layout yet)

Hey Oppolockers!

A friend of mine died rather suddenly three years ago from cancer (really - a cough that started up and wouldn’t go away at Christmas and dead that next September), and his widow is packing up to move to Florida. In his many belongings that she doesn’t want is this grill:

Sorry folks, best I could do was post it up to G+ and link it back through, so please !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

I have no idea what it is or what it comes from, and definitely don’t need it. If you can provide any clues as to what it is, great! If you need/want it for a project, even better, email me offline (bill.haworth@gmail.com) and we’ll work out how to get it to you (cost of shipping plus an extra $10, I’m cheap).

Six week old kitten provided only for scale, not included in sale. My new shop kitteh is too cute to let go.

Your grill looks like a blog post. So does your kitten.

Looking at your other post, I’m not sure offhand - all I can say is that it appears to be the upper grill of a vehicle with a mixed format grill as seen in the late ‘30s through the ‘40s. Lots of vehicles of that era had a blended thin “radiator” with a wider styled fake grill in the front of the fenders - like so:

Or like so:

Kinja'd!!!

It appears to be that *upper* section, just not sure off of what.

That’s what I was thinking too - something earlier than the ‘60's, and also could possibly be foreign.

I’m actually surprised at how little response this generated. I guess the immediate powers of recognition were blunted just enough that everybody went “Ooh, shiny” on the next post. Which is a shame, because as sharp as I can be on some IDs, there are probably people on Oppo who would get this one where I can’t.

Yup, and now it’s fallen WWWAAAAAYYYY off the front page of Oppolock, and it’ll never be seen again. *sigh* Oh well, such is life.

I may paste it into a new post early next week and see if I get any bites. “Murphie” has a post up right now in which three or more of us are trying to ID a ~1928 car... oddly enough by its unique grill characteristics.
